Executive Director and CEO, Keri DeMasi, along with Lauren Fredrick of the WV Coalition to End Homelessness (WVCEH) were elected by the State System Leaders to serve as our State’s Co-Sponsors of this challenge. Keri and Lauren recruited WV’s state team who traveled to South Carolina for the launch of the #100daychallenge. While there the team elected their team leaders. Bartlett Housing CoC Case Manager Lead Edwards and WVCEH Outreach Worker Larry Seawell were chosen for this role. Bartlett Housing is proud and honored to be part of this challenge aimed at eliciting systemic and sustainable change.
The 100-Day goal includes significantly decreasing the number of youth at-risk and homeless people and includes housing marginalized LGBTQ individuals. The focus includes ensuring racial parity, preventing youth from exiting public systems without long-term housing, securing job opportunities and strengthening the infrastructure of existing systems to better deal with this rising epidemic.
The Rapid Results Institute (RRI) is a not for profit organization that partners with other innovative organizations to help solve complex societal issues. RRI has helped organize and provide consultative services to help choreograph our 100-Day Challenge. RRI, in consultation with HUD, has determined that the 100-Day Challenge will be postponed and resume on May 4, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This date is subject to change depending on how the situation evolves.
Though our ability to house folks has slowed during COVID-19, the 100-Day Challenge Team still wants to make sure homeless service providers, community partners, concerned citizens, and consumers have the most up-to-date information from our federal partners. The staff members at WVCEH have been working diligently to compile resource materials for four colleagues working on the ground to serve one of our most vulnerable populations. For more information and to download materials from the CDC, WVDHHR, USICH, and HUD. To find copies to views or download please go to WVCEH website at https://www.wvceh.org/news-updates/113-covid-19-resources.html.
The team is still hard at work to ensure we are in the best possible position to reach our goal to safely and stably house homeless and at-risk youth and young adults in North Central WV once we get through the pandemic. We will continue to meet and are still taking referrals through the WVCEH intake line at 1-833-722-2014. We are still seeking additional units and landlords that are willing to support our efforts in Harrison, Marion, and Monongalia County. If you are a landlord or know someone who is a landlord please contact Elizabeth Edwards at 304-439-5834, firstname.lastname@example.org or Larry Seawell at 304-476-5557, email@example.com.

Volunteering your time is something that not only helps your community, but helps your well-being too. Studies have shown that people who volunteer are less likely to be depressed, especially for people 65 years or older (Mayo Clinic, 2017). This is mostly attributed to the social aspect of volunteering. It takes a village to get things done, and when you’re volunteering for a place that you are passionate about helping, chances are that village shares the same passion that you do. This of course leads to lifelong friendships and makes you enjoy what you’re doing even more.
Have you ever seen a person experiencing homelessness and discover you have a passion to help them? Or maybe you love to cook but are the type to make WAY too much food (we serve meals 3 times a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to our residents so we definitely could use you!).
Maybe volunteering at Bartlett Housing Solutions can help you build your resume for your career. Whatever the reason is, we would love to have you! We accept almost any kind of help you are willing to offer, but these are the most common volunteer opportunities:
So wherever your skills and passions lie, just know that you are welcome at Bartlett Housing Solutions. We will be here for you when you want to do good, and we will be here for you if need housing.

We want 2020 to be a revolutionary year for Morgantown, WV. With your help, we can get as many people off the streets as possible and into warm, safe homes for the winter. However, why not help those in need and still have fun? That is why we put together The Crafts & Laughs New Year’s Eve Fundraiser, because you can still give a lot while eating, drinking, and having a great time with friends.
So before you plan on going out of town for New Year’s consider these reasons why you should stay:
The 2nd Annual Crafts and Laughs New Year’s Eve Fundraiser is put on in collaboration with Bartlett Housing Solutions, Mountain State Brewing Company, and The Fearless Fools. All of which are companies based in Morgantown, WV and benefit to coming together to celebrate ringing in the New Year. All proceeds will go to finding housing solutions to people right here in Morgantown.
If you’ve been to Mountain State Brewing Company, you know that their wood-fired pizza is out of this world; but did you know that they will have a whole pizza and appetizer BUFFET that comes with the admission for this event? If you haven’t tried their pizza, this event is the perfect opportunity to try one of every kind (don’t worry, the New Year’s resolutions don’t start until after this event). So with pizza, appetizers, and craft beers on tap, you’re sure to be well fed.
This event has constant shows going on that will be sure to make you laugh. At 9pm, Cody Cannon and Co. will be performing and then at 10:30pm, the local improv group, The Fearless Fools will be performing. So if you haven’t attended an improv show before, now if the time! It’s always fun to see what the performers do with the audience’s suggestions.
As if bringing home great memories isn’t enough, you also have the opportunity to bring home great gifts in our silent auction! Not only is it nice to come home with something, but the money raised during the auction will also go to helping people in your local community find sustainable housing solutions. It’s a win-win!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a New Year’s celebration without a toast! Each ticket comes with a glass of champagne and a cupcake so you can be sure to ring in the New Year exactly how you envisioned it. With a glass of champagne, surrounded by happy people with full bellies.
The Crafts & Laughs New Year’s Fundraiser will take place Dec. 31st at Mountain State Brewing Company at 8pm. Tickets are available here.
We hope to see you there!
