Monongalia County PIT Count

Every year, Monongalia County, with the support of dozens of volunteers, conducts a Point In Time (PIT) Count of all persons experiencing homelessness on the streets, in emergency shelter, and in other temporary housing.  The purpose of the count is to estimate the size of the population in need of homeless housing and supportive services. The PIT is an important opportunity to collect essential data on unsheltered individuals and all demographic information will be reported to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.  The unsheltered count is essential in continuing to secure funding for Monongalia County social service agencies engaging in street outreach, recovery, and housing stability.  The Point In Time Count is planned for and executed by Bartlett Housing Solutions in partnership with the West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness, other social service agencies and community organizations.

In preparation for the 2018 Count, which will begin at 4 p.m. on the evening of January 23rd and conclude at 4 p.m. on January 24th, we are recruiting volunteers to play various roles at different times to support the execution of the Count. Volunteers must be available to attend a one hour training in advance of the PIT Count either in-person or online. If you want to and are available to volunteer, please find additional information about the types of opportunities and let us know your interest by completing the 2018 PIT Volunteer Registration Form.

HOMELESS SERVICE PROVIDERS:  We are especially interested in recruiting people with lived experience with homelessness or who work/have worked with those experiencing homelessness to volunteer, so if you run a program and have participants and/or staff interested in volunteering, please  have them complete the 2018 PIT Volunteer Registration Form.

If you have any questions about the PIT Count or if your organization is interested in supporting the count through an incentive, personal hygiene product, or food donation drive, please contact Ryan Boyd, Assistant Director of Bartlett Housing Solutions and Monongalia County PIT Coordinator.

Thank you for your commitment to and partnership in making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in Monongalia County.
